What to Expect
GETTING HERE
We worship every Sunday at 10am at 64 S. Walnut St. in Manteno, right next the Public Library and directly across from the Fire Department. We have a parking lot that leads to ADA accessible entrances on the North side of the building (between the church and the library), and we have additional parking on the streets surrounding the church building. We also have a time for coffee, snacks, choir practice, and fellowship before the service, from 9am-10am, so if you’re nervous about finding your way into the building, don’t be afraid to come by a little early and spend some time with us! All are welcome in worship, and you can show up dressed in whatever is comfortable for you.
Worship
At the heart of Community Presbyterian Church is the worshiping community. We gather each week to respond with praise and adoration to the grace that God has showered upon us. And while our services take their shape from the way the Christian church has worshiped throughout history, we also appreciate new ways to creatively express our love for the Lord. We sing traditional hymns alongside originally composed songs. We make time for silence, historic set prayers, and calls to mission. We also celebrate the Sacrament of Communion at least once a month and the hearing of God’s word in Scripture and preaching is always central to our time together.
KIDS
Children are always welcome in worship, but we do have a Nursery available for kids preschool age and younger that starts each week at 9:30am and goes through the end of the service. We have a paid nursery worker that your kids can expect to see almost every week and you can either drop your children off before the service starts or wait to bring them to the Nursery until the K-5th graders are dismissed during the service. During the school year, kids in K-5th grade are dismissed to Children’s Church just before the Sermon to learn about God’s love in a way that is a little more accessible for their ages and in a setting that makes sense for them.
